CALDWALL - A two-out, two-run single from Brock Murphy in the eighth inning provided the winning run, as Dickinson State rallied for a 5-3 victory over The College of Idaho at chilly Wolfe Field on Saturday.
With the Coyotes leading 3-2 in the eighth, Zach Griffith and Erik Bastio both reached base with two outs in the inning. Following a passed ball that moved both runners into scoring position, Murphy lined a single up the middle, putting the Hawks (3-5) ahead 4-3. Jon Mendoza followed with an RBI double to deep left-center to make it 5-3.
It was enough for Tanner Newman, who tossed a complete game while scattering nine hits and striking out five.
Game 4 of the series is Sunday at Noon.
