BOISE -- The Boise State Broncos are going down to the Mountain West Conference men’s basketball tournament on a mission.  That mission is to win basketball games, and leaving no doubt that they deserve an invitation to the NCAA Tournament.

“We just know we have to take care of our own business,” junior guard Jeff Elorriaga said.  “If we keep winning I'm sure we'll get in.  We have post-season implications.  We just need to take it one game at a time.  We know San Diego State, if we get another win against them, it would look great for our resume.”

Considered to be on the “bubble” by many, the Broncos (21-9) would like to make a run at the MWC tournament, which is something they think they are capable of.

“We've proven that we can compete with everyone in this league.  We've proven that on a really good night, if we're playing our best, we can beat anybody in this league,” head coach Leon Rice said.  “We're going down there to play our best basketball, and we know that if we do, we have a chance to win this thing.”

Should the Broncos win a couple of games, but not win the conference championship, an at-large invite to the NCAA tournament is very possible.  It would be the first time in team history to receive an at-large invitation, and one that would not be taken lightly.

“To be an at-large bid is a big deal,” Elorriaga said.  “Playing in such a deep conference, our RPI is one, that means a lot to us, that we're competing.  It's a great accomplishment to make the NCAA tournament.”

NOTE: Boise State sophomores Anthony Drmic and Derrick Marks were both named to the All-Mountain West Second Team on Monday.
