The Boise State men's basketball team was picked 5th by the media and 7th by the coaches in the Western Athletic Conference pre-season polls.
Boise State totaled 23 points in the coaches' poll finishing behind Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Idaho, La Tech and Fresno State. San Jose State and Hawaii rounded out the rest of the rankings.
Last season the Broncos tied for third in the WAC with an overall record of 19-13 and a conference record of 9-7.
Boise State garnered 145 points in the media poll and finished behind Utah State, Nevada, New Mexico State and Idaho, and ahead of Louisiana Tech, Fresno State, San Jose State and Hawai'i in the coaches poll.
The Broncos opened practice for the 2008-09 season last Friday, with their first exhibition on Tuesday, Nov. 3, against Willamette University and their first regular season game on Friday, Nov. 13, at Montana for a three-game tournament with the other two games scheduled against Loyola Marymount and North Dakota. Boise State's first home game of the regular season comes against North Texas, Saturday, Nov. 28. They have 1 exhibition games, November 13th versus LMU.
