BOISE-- The Boise Hawks ended a six game losing streak on Friday thanks to a Rafael Lopez single to center field to give the Hawks a 3-2 win in the tenth inning over Yakima.
The Hawks gave up a Bear run in the seventh inning to tie the game at two runs apiece. The game remained tied at the end on nine, forcing an extra inning. The Bears threatened in the top half of the inning with a runner on third with just one out. But Hawks pitcher Bryce Shafer was up to the task, striking out two Yakima batters to end the threat.
The Hawks countered with a runner of their own on third with two outs. Lopez was able to ground a ball up the middle and scored Zeke DeVoss to win in walk off fashion.
The Hawks will host the Bears again on Saturday night.
