GARDEN CITY -- Thursday night's 7-2 loss to Tri-City seemed like one of those nights when not very much was going the way of the Boise Hawks.
It was a rough evening starting with Boise's first batter.
Pin-Chieh Chen sent a double to deep rightcenter field, and was promptly thrown out at third trying to turn the double into a triple. It was the third time in two nights Chen had been thrown out, while on the base paths.
The momentum immediately shifted back to Tri-City as they'd score the games first run in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead.
The Hawks would tie it in the fourth when Dustin Harrington's single brought in Kyung-Min Na from second.
The Dust Devils would retake the lead with a two run home run off, the Hawks, Cam Greathouse in the fifth to make it a 3-1 ball game.
Boise would get within one when Pin-Chieh Chen, made up for his earlier mistake, singled in Yaniel Cabezas, making it a 3-2 game.
It would remain that way until the ninth when Tri-City rallied for four runs to put the game out of reach.
The 7-2 defeat was the Hawks first loss at Memorial Stadium in 2011.
The same two teams are back at it for the series finale on friday night.
