BOISE--  It took extra innings, but the Boise Hawks managed to pull off a come-from-behind, walk-off, 5-4 win over the Eugene Emeralds on Friday night.

The Hawks got themselves in a hole early in the game, giving up a run in the third inning, and then three more in the fifth.  But Boise was able to chip away at the deficit, scoring runs in the fifth and eighth innings.

The Hawks trailed, 4-3, going into the bottom of the ninth.  With two outs, manager Gary Van Tol decided to use pinch hitter Rony Rodriguez to try to keep the game alive.  It was a gamble that paid off for the home team.  Rodriguez launched a homerun to centerfield and evened the game at 4-4.

Boise picher Matt Iannazzo came in to relieve the Hawks, and managed to get out of the top of the tenth inning unscathed.

In the bottom of the tenth, the Hawks loaded the bases on a single and two walks.  Jacob Rogers wasted no time ending the game, as he singled to right field, bringing in Jacob Hannemann to give the Hawks a walk-off win.

The Hawks will host the Emeralds again on Saturday night.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
