BOISE-- The Boise Hawks are back in the City of Trees. On Tuesday, the 2012 version of the Hawks were greeted at the Boise Airport by fans and team boosters.
21 players made the trip to Boise from Mesa, Arizona, along with manager Mark Johnson and two other staff members.
The team will work out at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, and then set off for its season opening series at Salem-Keizer, which starts on Friday.
"It's nice to jump right into it," Hawks pitcher Ian Dickson said. "We've been practicing this whole time, so to be able to get out here, get one scrimmage in, hop on the road and then play, it's going to be a quick change of pace. We're all looking forward to it."
"It's a young team, same as last year," Johnson said. "They're full of energy, they can catch the ball, they've got some hidden power in the lineup. It looks like it's going to be a pretty decent squad."
The Hawks will play their home opener against Eugene on Wednesday, June 20.
