BOISE-- The Boise Hawks won their second straight home game Friday, holding off a late Eugene rally to beat the Emeralds 6-4. Gioskar Amaya was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, and accounted for two RBI in the win.
Eugene took an early one-run lead to start the game, but Boise bounced back in the bottom of the first when Jeimer Candelario blasted a three-run home run over the right field wall to take a 3-1 lead. After that, both teams traded offensive shots, but the Hawks never trailed.
Eugene closed the lead to 5-4 in the fourth, but the Hawks bullpen responded with five and one-third innings of shutout relief to seal the win.
Both teams will meet again Saturday night for Game 4 of the series.
