KEIZER, Ore.-- The Boise Hawks gave up three unearned runs and fell 4-1 to Salem-Keizer on Tuesday night. The Volcanoes took four of five games in the season opening series.
Salem-Keizer opened the scoring with a run in the first, but Boise evened the game up in the sixth on a Wilson Contreras RBI double. But the home team quickly broke the tie in the bottom half of the inning, scoring one run and two more unearned runs.
Hawks pitcher Willengton Cruz struck out six batters and allowed just three hits in five innings of work.
The Hawks open their home schedule on Wednesday at Memorial Stadium, hosting Eugene for a five-game series.
