BOISE-- The Boise Hawks gave up nine runs in the eighth inning, and went on to lose 11-4 to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes on Monday night.
Boise jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Stephen Bruno RBI single and a Wilson Contreres sacrifice fly.
Salem-Keizer answered though with runs in the third and fifth, and then blew the doors open in the eighth inning. The Volcanoes loaded the bases up before tying the game at 3-3 on a Hayden Simpson single. After that, the visiting team strung together four hits to pile up a seven-run lead.
Jeimer Candelario went 3-for-5 in the loss for the Hawks.
Game 4 of the series is Tuesday night.
