BOISE-- The Boise Hawks fought back to take the lead at home on Saturday night, but gave it back in the seventh inning, falling 5-4 to the Eugene Emeralds.
Eugene jumped out to an early lead in the fourth inning, scoring three runs after Ian Dickson shut them down to start the game. But the Hawks responded in the fifth, scoring four runs in the inning on RBI singles from Chadd Krist and Gioskar Amaya, and a two-run Marco Hernandez double.
The lead did not last, though, as the Emeralds tied the game in the sixth on a Brian Adams RBI double.
The Emeralds broke the tie in the seventh on a Dane Phillips RBI double off the wall to take the lead for good. After that, the Eugene bullpen retired the next nine men in a row to secure the win.
The final game of the series will be held Sunday night at 7:15 p.m.
