SPOKANE-- The Boise Hawks improved to 4-3 on the season on Friday night, defeating the Spokane Indians, 4-1.
The Hawks got a two-out, three-run homerun from Yasiel Balaguert in the top of the eighth inning, which broke a 1-1 tie and eventually lifted the Hawks past the Indians.
Starter Paul Blackburn pitched five innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits in the no-decision. Carlos Martinez picked up the win in relief, allowing just one walk in three innings of shutout work.
The Hawks will face Spokane twice on Saturday in a double-header.
