SPOKANE, Wash.-- The Boise Hawks had bases loaded with no outs, but failed to score the tying run, as the Spokane Indians held on to an 8-6 win at home on Sunday.
The Hawks fell behind early, and trailed 7-1 at one point. But Boise managed to whittle that to an 8-5 deficit going into the ninth inning. An RBI single from Jacob Rogers cut the Spokane lead to two with no outs in the final frame. With the bases loaded, Justin Sprenger came in and closed the door on the Hawks, managing a strikeout and a game-ending double play.
Despite the loss, the Hawks did swing the bats well, and all nine hitters recorded at least one hit.
The series finale between Boise and Spokane will be played Monday night at 7:35 p.m. (MDT).
