BOISE--  With a final score that resembled a football game, the Boise Hawks outlasted the Eugene Emeralds 14-11 to take the rubber match of a five-game series on Sunday night.

In what started out as a fairly tame offensive game, the Hawks jumped out to a two-run lead thanks to back-to-back home runs by Marco Hernandez and Jeimer Candelario in the first inning.  Each team was able to score after that, but it was the Hawks holding onto a sizeable lead in the bottom of the eighth.  That was when the fireworks began.

Boise piled on six runs in the frame, thanks in part to two-RBI hits by Wilson Contreras and Chadd Krist, to take a 14-5 lead.  Eugene responded in the top of the ninth with a six-run inning, highlighted by a Brian Adams grand slam to pull to within three runs.  With the tying run at the plate, Bryce Shafer got Alexi Colon to pop up to the end the game.

The Hawks belted out a season-high four home runs, the first time doing so since the 2007 season.  All nine Hawks starters recorded a hit in the game, with six of them notching two hits apiece.

The Hawks now hit the road for a three-game series in Spokane starting on Monday night.
