LAS VEGAS, NV – The Boise State men’s basketball team’s three-game conference winning streak came to an end Wednesday, as they lost to No. 21 UNLV 75-58 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The loss was the first for the Broncos (13-13, 3-8 MW) in their second run through the Mountain West.
Anthony Drmic and Thomas Bropleh led the team with nine points apiece. Bropleh also pulled down a team-high six rebounds off the bench.
Despite trailing by 12 at halftime, the Broncos prevented the Runnin’ Rebels (23-6, 7-4) from pulling away until midway through the second half. Boise State had outscored UNLV through the first six minutes of the period, but a 15-3 run by the Runnin’ Rebels over a five minutes stretch pushed their lead to 23 points.
With the win UNLV stayed perfect on its home floor this season (15-0) and remained just a game back of New Mexico for the Mountain West Conference regular season title.
The Broncos started the game 4-for-6 from the 3-point line, but knocked down just three of their next 24, finishing with a season-high 30 attempts.
Boise State will remain on the road for its contest at Wyoming on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. against the Cowboys, and the game will be nationally-televised by The Mtn.
