MOSCOW-- The Idaho Vandal football team wrapped up Spring practices on Friday, playing the annual Silver and Gold game. Following the scrimmage, first year head coach Paul Petrino was happy with the productivity of his offense and the toughness of his defense.
“It was good to see some big plays being made,” said Petrino after the spring finale at the Kibbie Dome. “We kept improving. We got tougher.”
Offensively, redshirt-freshman quarterback Chad Chalich stood out as the front runner in the QB competition. Chalich threw for 332 yards (22-40) and ran for another 102 yards. Taylor Davis countered by completing 12-of-23 passes for 157 yards.
On defense, linebacker Marc Millan had 12 tackles with Jayshawn Jordan accounting for 10 other takedowns.
“I thought both sides of the ball showed good things,” Petrino said. “It was fun. It was fun to get out there.”
The Vandals open the 2013 season at North Texas August 31.
