BOISE -- The Mtn., the Mountain West Conference's cable network, made a visit to Boise this week to find out more about Boise State and the city the Broncos call home.
"I love the passion the fans have for the sports," said Darius Payton, a host at The Mtn. "This is a great sports town and I am glad Boise State is now in the Mountain West Conference."
The crew of three, which traveled from Denver, has become very familiar with Boise State since the school chose to join the MWC back in July of 2010.
In July of 2011 the school will become an official member of the conference and The Mtn. is going to showcase the Broncos with a welcome week.
"Our original programming team decided that we should do three different shows," said Alysen Hargrove, producer at The Mtn.. "One is a documentary about the football team and the rise to dominance. The second show is about the campus, the students and the other athletic teams besides football, and the third show is about the city of Boise."
Hargrove and Payton are helping put together the show focusing on the city of Boise.
During their stay they visited with Boise Mayor Dave Bieter and even took a tour of the BSU campus with Boise State president Dr. Bob Kustra.
The Mtn. also called on former Bronco great Ian Johnson, who was happy to help promote the school he played so hard for.
"So many people don't know what Boise State is all about and Boise has done so much for me and the least I can do is let them know what Boise State is all about," said Johnson. "I mean give them the true insiders point of view."
Johnson did that while sharing lunch with The Mtn. crew at the Boise Fry Company, in Boise.
While with Johnson, the crew quickly found out even though they had a camera it was Johnson who was getting all the attention, which got them very excited for all those Mountain West crazies who are looking forward to seeing the Broncos up close as well.
"To have them in the conference and to be able to watch them week in and week out. This is exciting for the network," said Payton. "[It's] exciting for the conference and I think even the fans from around the conference are waiting for their chance to see Boise State for the first time come to their stadium or to have them play here in Boise. It's a great time."
The three different shows will be airing starting at 7 p.m. on The Mtn., July 1st. The network will showcase the Broncos and really celebrate the programs arrival to the conference with plenty of bonus Bronco coverage.
The Mtn. is available on DirecTV (616) and CableOne (329), but not Dish Network.
