BOISE -- The Idaho Steelheads enjoyed some home-cooking on Friday night, beating first-place Alaska, 6-2, in front of a sellout crowd of 5,010 at CenturyLink Arena.

Playing in Boise for the first time since Jan. 5, the Idaho offense got on the board twice in a span of less than one minute halfway through the first. At the 12:01 mark, Sam Carrick threaded a pass to newcomer Tyler Gron to take a 1-0 lead.

Moments later, Brett Robinson played a loose puck out the air and riffled in past the Aces goaltender to make it 2-0 and the Steelies never looked back.

Austin Fyten also added two goals for Idaho, while goaltender Josh Robinson turned away 34 of 36 shots.

With the win, the Steelheads improve to 24-9-5 on the season and an ECHL-best 15-2-2 on their home ice.

Idaho and Alaska will play again on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. at CenturyLink Arena.
