LOVELAND, Colo. --  The Idaho Steelheads went down by three in the first period to the Colorado Eagles, and couldn’t rebound, losing 7-4.  The Steelheads still lead the opening round series of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs three games to two.

Colorado came out fired up, trying to avoid losing the best-of-seven series on home ice.  The Eagles beat Idaho goaltender Tyler Beskorowany three times in the first, and took a 3-0 lead into intermission.  The home team picked up where it left off in period two, scoring once again with 8:49 left in the period.

The Steelheads finally got on the board later in the second on an Austin Fyten goal, but Colorado countered with another lamp-lighter to take a 5-1 lead into the final frame.

Idaho fought back with two goals from Austin Smith, and another from Ben Ondrus, but the effort wasn’t enough.  Colorado netted two more goals to secure the victory.

Game six brings the two teams back to Boise where they will square off on Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.
