Idaho Steelheads forward Ashton Rome has been loaned to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. He left Thursday and will not be with the Steelheads when they play the Ontario Reign on Friday night.
In Hershey, Rome will be teamed with former Steelhead Jay Beagle, a member of the 2006-2007 ECHL Kelly Cup championship team here in Idaho.
Rome, 24, is making his second trip this season to the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America. He also spent time with the Toronto Marlies in December and January. In 38 games with Idaho, Rome has 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists), including a goal and assist in Wednesday night’s 5-4 win over the Utah Grizzlies.
The rest of the Steelheads begin a road series with Ontario on Friday.
