BOISE -- Boise State senior quarterback Joe Southwick was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list on Thursday.
Southwick is coming off a season in which he passed for 2,730 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions. His 66.9 completion percentage was the fifth highest in school history.
The senior-to-be is one of four quarterbacks from the Mountain West to make the watch list. Fresno State senior Derek Carr, Nevada junior Cody Fajardo and San Jose State senior David Fales also received honors.
The award is present annually to the nation's top college quarterback based on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic accomplishments.
You must be a fourth-year junior or senior on track to graduate to be eligible.
Former Boise State quarteback Kellen Moore was a finalist for the award in 2011, but Stanford alumnus Andrew Luck was named the winner.
The award will be presented at a ceremony in Baltimore, MD on Dec. 6, 2013.
