BOISE --Quarterback Nick Patti has been given the go ahead to contact another school, which could lead to his transfer away from Boise State during the upcoming spring semester

University officials confirmed the backup quarterback's likely departure Tuesday evening.

Associate Athletic Director Max Corbet told KTVB Patti's father requested his son be able to contact the University of Central Florida. Corbet says BSU has only granted permission for Patti to contact UCF at this time.

Patti, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound redshirt freshman played third-string quarterback for Boise State in 2013 after joining the team for the 2012 season.

Patti played in six games during the 2013 season, completing 8-of-11 passes for 63 yards, and running the ball four times for 19 yards, but did not score any touchdowns or start.

Notably, Patti and starting quarterback Joe Southwick were embroiled in a December scandal at the Hawaii Bowl.

Southwick was sent home after allegedly urinating from a balcony during the incident. Patti was suspended for one practice due to team violations.

Originally from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Patti was recruited to play for the Broncos by then-Head Coach Chris Petersen.
