Playoff football is in the air in Idaho. Districts kicked off Friday night in the 5A. The matchup of the night was won by Eagle, who held off Centennial, 30-22. Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Meridian, 42-7. The Mavericks play Capital next week in the Quarterfinals of the State Tournament. Rocky Mountain will play Eagle, after the Grizzlies beat Vallivue in a thriller, 37-36.
In the 4A, it was the final chance for some teams to make the postseason. Nampa cashed-in that opportunity, beating Columbia, 41-6. The Wildcats were eliminated from the Playoffs, after their loss, and Middleton’s win. The Vikings beat Skyview, 34-32. However, even with the loss, The Hawks squeaked into the postseason. Elsewhere in the 4A, Minico lost at Hillcrest, 46-0, and Jerome lost at Pocatello, 35-33.
The 3A State Playoffs officially got underway on Friday. Fruitland ran all-over Wendell, 54-6. That was a part of a Snake River Valley Conference sweep, as Payette crushed Kimberly on the road, 36-3, and Weiser won at Buhl, 28-7.
In the 2A State Playoffs, Nampa Christian held off Grangeville, 22-19. Parma and New Plymouth had first-round byes on Friday. Melba plays at Kamiah on Saturday.
