HOMEDALE, Idaho -- Softball teams from across the Treasure Valley are in Homedale Saturday and Sunday to remember two who died in 2009.

This was the fourth year of the Landa-Miller Memorial tournament, named for Conner Landa and Daniel Miller.

Landa, 14, of Homedale, died in a car accident in April of 2009. Miller, 23, of Wilder, died the same month from alcohol poisoning in Moscow.

Now, friends, family and complete strangers get together to remember them.

"In a small community like this, we have to show our support," said Kylie Farwell, who was a friend of Landa's. "The Landa family is pretty big in Homedale and we have to show them we're here for them always, and just to show we stick together no matter what happens."

The teams play hour-long games on five fields.

All of the money raised goes towards improvement projects in Homedale. One of the previous projects included building a shelter at the baseball fields to offer shade on hot days like the ones the valley has been experiencing lately.

The tournament wraps up Sunday.
