CALDWELL, ID -- The 14th ranked Lewis-Clark State Warriors proved too much for the streaking College of Idaho Coyotes, Friday, as they swept a double header, 20-12 and 6-5.
After a scoreless first inning in game one the Warriors were able to push across three runs in the second. Two of them came thanks to bases loaded walks.
The Yotes were able to respond with one run in the bottom of the second, but the Warriors responded by putting a 7-spot on the board in the third to take a commanding 10-1 lead. The crushing blow came off the bat of Brian Gaylord who hit a grand slam in the inning and finished the game with 7 RBI.
LC went on to win game one 20-12. It was the most runs scored in a game between the two schools since 1971.
Game two was a much closer match up, but errors eventually did in the Yotes.
LC scored three runs on two early errors to go on to win 6-5.
