One of Idaho's most decorated young golfers, Middleton High golfer, Cali Hipp has given her verbal committment to play golf at the University of Oregon. Hipp shared the news with the Ducks just last week and is most excited about the opportunity to play golf in the Pac-10.
"The Pac-10 is the top conference in Women's golf across the nation. So it's a really competitive conference and I am really looking forward to it," said Hipp after a 74 at the first round of the Big 'I' Classic on Tuesday.
The 17 year-old had offers from schools all over the country. She said she traveled as far as North and South Carolina to talk with schools, but she decided to stay a bit closer to home although she said that didn't play much of a role in her choice to be a Duck.
Cali won the Idaho Women's State Am at the age of 15 back in 2008 making her the youngest to ever win the tournament. She's also qualified for all five of the major national junior tournaments. She also won the Big 'I' in 2009 and finished second in 2008.
Hipp's committment is not binding until she signs her official letter of intent this coming November.
