NAMPA - Charlie Gorzo set two school records and tied a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record this afternoon in leading Northwest Nazarene University to a sweep of Minot State University at Elmore Vail Field in Nampa. Gorzo went 5 for 9 with three home runs and nine RBI's in the opening game this afternoon.
Gorzo, a transfer from Palomar Community College, set new NNU single-game records with his nine RBI's and three home runs. The RBI totals match the GNAC record that was set by Tom Lepley of Western Oregon on Feb. 26, 2006 against Grand Canyon University. His 15 total bases falls just one short of the GNAC record.
The Crusaders improve to 4-0 after defeating the Beavers 25-4 in game one and 10-4 in game two.
The Crusaders will travel to California next weekend to face Cal State East Bay in Hayward, Calif. on Friday and Saturday.
