BOISE-- The Boise Hawks picked up where they left off on Saturday night, beating the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4-1 for their fourth straight victory. Boise has now won seven of their last eight games, and sit atop the Northwest League standings in the second half of the season.
Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, the Hawks got a lift from College of Idaho product Izaac Garsez when he hit a two run homerun to take the lead. The Hawks added two more, and pitcher Felix Pena threw five shutout innings in relief to secure the win.
Game 2 of the series will be Sunday night at Memorial Stadium.
