BOISE -- The Boise State Broncos (1-1) will face the Air Force Falcons (1-1) Friday at 6:00 p.m.

The event is BSU's first regular conference game of the 2013 season. It's also only the second time both teams have met since the Broncos debuted in the Mountain West Conference in 2011.

Boise States has won 13-straight conference openers since a loss in 1999, when the Broncos fell 17-10 to North Texas.

Coach Chris Petersen says his team shouldn't expect an easy conference opener this year. That's because Friday's matchup is expected to pit the Broncos against an Air Force team that Petersen called "hard to prepare for."

"The problem with Air Force is that they do a lot," Petersen said. "Everybody thinks of those guys as the triple option ... That's a small percentage of what they do. They have a lot of offense."

COACH PETE:  'HUGE CHALLENGE'

Petersen described Air Force's 52-20 loss to Utah State last week as "completely deceiving."

"The running backs all run hard and tough," Petersen said. "The o-line is big and feisty -- should be a huge challenge."

Petersen also commented that several Air Force receivers dropped passes in a series of blunders that certainly won't be repeated.

"It won't happen again," Petersen said during Monday's news conference.

The Broncos are expected to meet Friday's challenge by unleashing an offensive strategy similar to the one used against UT Martin last Saturday. Petersen said the team simply hasn't had time to develop anything custom tailored to beating Air Force.

"You have to get back to your fundamentals and base," Petersen said.

NEW ALCOHOL TAILGATING RULES

Fans at this year's Boise State home football games will be allowed to drink alcohol at tailgate parties near Bronco Stadium.

The "Ten to Ten Zone" is between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Bronco football home game days where alcoholic beverages will be allowed in plastic cups.

Boundary map:

The cups cannot be see-through and cannot display brand names or logos of alcoholic beverage companies, and anyone consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years old.

Boise Police Chief Mike Masterson says this will allow officers to focus on other issues rather than ticketing open-container violators who are otherwise following the law.

PARKING AND TAILGATING

The Friday night football game against Air Force will affect traffic and parking on the Boise State campus. Adding to the congestion are the women’s Volleyball Classic from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Bronco Gym and the Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise production of “Chicago” at 8 p.m. in the Morrison Center.

ADDITIONAL TIPS FROM BPD

Police say illegal and overnight parking is prohibited in all Boise Parks. Nearby Julia Davis park closes at midnight, and cars may be towed after this time. Towing for all other illegal parking actions can happen any time.

However, BPD and Boise Parks and Rec. say towing will not happen until 2 a.m. for games that start after 7 p.m. during 2012's Bronco Football season.

Police also say alcohol and glass containers are prohibited in all parks, except for in designated park shelter areas by those with designated permits. Click here for more on Boise park safety regulations.

Police will post signs on the north and south sides of University Drive to restrict parking between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Vehicles may be ticketed and towed in these areas.

ADDITIONAL PARKING OPPORTUNITY

Police say fans can park at the Ada County Courthouse and help victims of child abuse, sexual assault and domestic violence.

Fans can park at the Ada County Courthouse, 200 W. Front Street for each home game during the 2012-2013 football season at a cost of $5.00 per car.
