BOISE-- The Boise State Broncos are in game week mode in preparation for their season opener at Michigan State on Friday. The Broncos practiced Monday morning for the first time with redshirt junior Joe Southwick as their announced starting quarterback.
With the season opener just days away now, the Broncos have started scheming for their Spartan opponent. After practice, the feeling was excitement to finally be close to facing an opponent and kicking off the 2012 season.
"It's definitely exciting, I mean the focus is turning up in practice," sophomore safety Lee Hightower said. "Everybody is going ahead and getting ready, because they know the game is coming in four days. It's exciting to get out there and have a focus for the week and knowing that you're going to play in a couple of days."
"As a whole unit, I think we're ready. We have some pieces to put together in the next couple of days, but I feel like Friday we're going to be ready to go," senior cornerback Jamar Taylor said.
The Broncos have one more practice in Boise before leaving for East Lansing. Kickoff for the season opener between Boise State and Michigan State is at 6 p.m. local time on Friday.
