BOISE-- The Boise State football team is enjoying its first of two bye weeks this season, and the time off seems to have come at just the right time. The Broncos seem to have an unordinary amount of starters unable to play after the first five games.
Wide receiver Kirby Moore, tight end Gabe Linehan, and defensive lineman Tyler Horn were just a few of the contributors unable to play in Saturday’s 60-7 win over Southern Miss.
“It's frustrating that we seem to be getting that many guys injured,” head coach Chris Petersen said. “I don't know, they just kind of run in batches a little bit. But, hopefully we'll get some guys back over the bye.”
The Broncos will still be hard at work practicing during the week off, and look forward to the chance to get better while healing sore bodies.
“This bye week, we've got to practice and get better. We can't just be going through the motions,” senior quarterback Joe Southwick said. “I know the coaching staff will make that clear and I think the players will listen. I think we'll get some things done during this bye week, and after that, it's back to business.”
The Broncos resume play on Saturday, October 12, when they hit the road to face Utah State.
