At the WAC Football Preview in Salt Lake City ealier this week (7/25-7/26) we gave the Broncos conference opponents an opportunity to weigh in on BSU's move to the Mountain West.
Surprisingly the Broncos received a lot of support from their peers.
Nevada head coach Chris Ault said, "Well I wish they were still in it. You know we've grown up with Boise. I am sure that down the road we'll end up playing more football games, so you know you don't like to see it happen, but it happened. All I know is that they're in the WAC this year. So that's what we've got to be focused on and need to keep our attention to detail on."
That was one thing every coach hit on. The Broncos aren't gone yet. Fresno State head coach Pat Hill even went on to say jokingly, "My guys are already ready to play Boise (State). It's getting up for the rest of our opponents that I have to worry about."
The Broncos have been in the WAC since 2001 and have pretty much dominated winning the title in seven of the nine seasons they've played in the league.
Utah State head coach Gary Anderson went on to say, "The way that they've held themselves up over the years is unparrelled in our league and it's not going to happen in one year to become the next Boise. It's not going to happen, but I am a little disappointed they turned around and left because you like to play them."
Boise State opens the season on Labor Day, September WAC play on October 2nd against New Mexico State in Las Cruces.
