Borah High School graduate Stephen Fife had another solid start in the big leagues on Friday night for the Los Angeles Dodgers.  Fife pitched five innings, and only allowed two runs in a 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The loss brought Fife’s record to 1-2 on the season.

Even though he is still looking for his second win of the season, Fife showed improvement in the loss to Pittsburgh.  In five innings of work, he only walked three batters and gave up just six hits.  He struck out four batters, and seemed to remain calm after giving up the two runs in the third inning.

“I'm definitely getting to the point where I'm starting to settle in to mechanically being right.  Then going out and executing for the team, trying to get us into winning fashion,” Fife told KTVB following the game.

More importantly, Fife says that he is getting more and more comfortable with each start in the MLB.

“The first couple outings last year were a little bit nerve-wracking, definitely nervous.  Now I'm starting to settle in and feel like I belong here.  I love it.”

Fife expects his next start to come on Thursday on the road facing the San Diego Padres.
