BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY -- Quarterback Joe Southwick is back to practicing after breaking his ankle four weeks ago.
The senior took snaps with the Broncos today, and while he hasn't been cleared to play yet, head coach Chris Petersen said he will be in the mix when he is cleared.
His backup, Grant Hedrick, has filled in well in his absence. That poses a question: will Southwick and Hedrick now be att odds for the starting spot?
Most recently, Hedrick led his team to a 41 point romping of Wyoming. He seemed to manage the Broncos well enough in the win. However, when asked what he thought about number 9, Peterson didn't seem very excited about the performance.
Coach Pete said today that he likes options, and he has a couple good ones at quarterback when Southwick is cleared to play. The senior has completed over 70 percent of his passes for over 15 hundred yards and 11 touchdowns this year.
Hedrick is at 71 percent, with over a thousand yards and ten TD's.
The Broncos and Aztecs kick off this Saturday at 8:30.
