BOISE -- There has been a shake up in the athletic department at Boise State University.
School officials sent out a brief statement today stating that track and field head coach J.W. Hardy has been relieved of his duties with the university. He coached both the men's and women's teams.
The school did not release any information about why Hardy was being let go.
KTVB's Jay Tust talked to Hardy on the phone Thursday evening, and says he will not finish out the remainder of the season, but he will be paid thought the length of his contract, which expires on June 30th.
Assistant coach Jeff Petersmeyer has been named interim head coach of the two teams.
Boise State plans to conduct a national search for a new coach for the track and field squads
