The Big West Conference is considering the addition of Boise State University in all sports other than football, commissioner Dennis Farrell told KTVB on Tuesday. The Broncos will need to find a new home for their Olympic sports in 2013 when the football team joins the Big East.
Farrell said that the conference sent Boise State a new member assessment to gather information about the university and its athletic program.
There is no deadline on when BSU must return the assessment, but Farrell told KTVB that before July 1 would be preferred due to possible scheduling issues.
Farrell said that the Big West started issuing assessments to schools a year and a half ago when Hawaii was interested in joining the conference in its Olympic sports. Hawaii and San Diego State have since been admitted into the conference, but Farrell pointed out that other schools that have been assessed have not been admitted.
