SAN DIEGO-- The Boise State men's tennis team secured a bid for the NCAA national tournament on Sunday, defeating New Mexico 4-0 to win the Mountain West Conference championship. The top-seeded Broncos already wrapped up the MWC regular season championship earlier this season after going 5-0 in conference play.
The tournament championship is the 13th in school history, and the 10th under head coach Greg Patton.
At the conference championship, Boise State (26-6) jumped out to an early lead in the doubles point after dropping the initial match. The teams of James Meredith/Nathan Sereke and Andy Bettles/Filipp Pogostkin responded to secure the point with wins each.
The Broncos then reeled off three consecutive singles match wins to win the overall match 4-0.
With the conference championship, Boise State has secured the Mountain West bid to the 2012 NCAA Men's Championships.
