BOISE -- Wintry weather conditions across the Midwest is hampering travel for thousands including the Boise State men's basketball. The storm has led to thousands of flight cancellations and delays over the past two days, according to the flight-tracking website Flightaware.com.
KTVB's Ryan Larrondo reports the Broncos could not fly out of Chicago this afternoon and the team is now headed to Lexington, Kentucky on a bus. That's a 400-mile trip. He says their estimated time of arrival in midnight eastern time.
The hoops team was supposed to have a practice tonight as they get ready for Tuesday's matchup with the 11th ranked Kentucky Wildcats. That won't happen thanks to Mother Nature.
The Broncos are still planning to hold a shoot around at 11 a.m. Tuesday and will talk with the media afterwards. Ryan is headed to Kentucky and has also experienced some travel delays. He expects to file sports reports from Kentucky on Tuesday newscasts.
The men's basketball team is off to the best start in school history, winning its first eight games.
Tuesday's game against Kentucky will be broadcast on ESPN. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT.
