BOISE -- Boise State defensive end Demarcus Lawrence has been named Mountain West Conference player of the week on defense after recording nine tackles in a 42-20 victory over Air Force last week.
Lawrence had five solo tackles in the game, including two for lost yardage. One of his biggest plays came in the fourth quarter when he tackled Falcon ball carrier Ty MacArthur for a four-yard loss in the red zone, forcing Air Force to settle for a field goal that cut Boise State's lead to 28-20.
Lawrence leads the Broncos defense with 3.5 tackles for loss this season and he also has one quarterback sack. He was a first-team, all-conference selection last year.
Boise State improved to 2-1 on the season. The Broncos will play at Fresno State on Friday.
