BOISE-- Boise's only Olympic gold medalist is a little more than two weeks from racing in the Gem State in front family, friends, and thousands of fans once again.
Cyclist Kristin Armstrong is hot off of a dominating win at the Tour of the Gila down in New Mexico. She is hoping that she can pedal that momentum onto the podium at the Exergy Tour in Idaho when she once again rides in her home state. But she knows that she will have the best women's cyclists in the world gunning for her, because she is the home town favorite.
"I'm a local girl so I'm going to have this huge target on my back," Armstrong said. "I want to do everything I can to defend this home turf. I do have some advantages, I do know the courses, and I have a team behind me. Not only do I have a team but I have a community who's out there supporting me, and they always have been."
The Exergy tour start on Thursday, May 24, and will visit 5 Idaho towns.
Armstrong is hoping that a strong finish will help her chances at being named to the Olympic team this summer.
