GARDEN CITY -- A 28-year-old parolee is back behind bars after he disarmed a police officer of his taser Monday evening, according to Garden City Police.

Officers say Deylen Scott Loos was confronted by a police officer after neighbors observed him acting "disoriented," and picking up children's toys and other property from several backyards.

Sergeant Russ Winter says the two struggled briefly after the officer chased Loos on foot.

Winter says that's when the officer deployed his taser, but failed to stop Loos because only a single taser prong penetrated the man's skin.

"Basically, there's two prongs in the taser and both prongs have to connect to the object being shot for the taser to work," Winter told KTVB.

That's when Loos reportedly took the officer's taser. Hower, Winter says the officer was able to control Loos and place him in handcuffs shortly afterward.

Neither man was seriously injured, according to police.

Garden City Police report that Loos is a parolee who absconded from parole recently.

They say he was aware that he was wanted by police, and is also suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Loos is charged with a felony and several misdemeanors.
