BOISE -- A Caldwell man is in jail after police say he hit a cyclist with an SUV, and then left from a WinCo Foods driveway on Monday night.

Boise Police say calls came in at around 9 p.m. concerning the hit-and-run, at the corner of Fairview and Milwaukee.

Authorities received multiple witness statements and descriptions of the SUV's driver, the license plate number, and the direction the car went after hitting the cyclist.

Officers ended up at the residence of 27-year-old Stoney Lynn Shafer Jr., the registered owner of the vehicle as described by witnesses.

The suspect was found hiding in a bedroom closet of the house and was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, as well as driving without privileges.

Police say the cyclist, a Boise woman in her early 20's, was not seriously injured and was treated on scene by Ada County Paramedics.
