Old Fashioned Williamsburg Dark Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar
1 Cup softened butter
1 large egg
½ teaspoon salt
1-teaspoon baking soda
1-teaspoon cinnamon
1-teaspoon nutmeg
¼ cup dark molasses
¼ cup maple syrup

3 to 3-1/2 cups flour

½ cup flour mixed with ¼ cup granulated sugar, for dusting

Method

Preheat oven to 350. In a mixer, combine brown sugar and butter. After they have mixed well, add remaining ingredients, one by one, until mix is smooth. On a floured surface, roll out cookie dough to ½ inch thickness. Cut 3 inch circles out of dough and lay on a greased or lined cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes. Remove cookies and cool. Dust with the flour sugar mixture. These cookies can be frozen.
