Chef Lou's Brie and Apple Slaps
½ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1-1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup oats
½ cup Crushed cornflakes
1 Apples, cored and sliced into half moons
1/2 lb Brie Cheese cut into 1 inch X 2 inch Slices
Powdered sugar, optional
Maple Syrup, or honey, optional
Combine flour, soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Stir in the milk, egg, and oil until incorporated.
Stir in oats and cornflakes.
Grease a hot frying pan with oil or butter.
Lay one piece of Brie on top of an apple slice(you can secure with toothpicks, if you don't want to get your hands messy).
Dip the apple brie slices in the batter coating evenly.
Fry them in the oil/butter until golden brown, about ½ minute.
Turn apple over and brown the other side.
Lay the apple Brie slices on a serving platter and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve with maple syrup.
