Matt Standal is a multimedia journalist for KTVB and KTVB.COM.

Matt is an experienced multimedia journalist who has worked in both print and broadcast news. He's also an accomplished professional scuba diving instructor.

Originally from northern Minnesota, Matt graduated from the U of M, Duluth in 2007 with a degree in English Literature and Philosophy.

Matt began his scuba diving career in the freezing lakes of northern Minnesota. In 2005, he became a professional dive leader for the Boy Scouts of America in Islamorada, Florida.

After attending college, Matt journeyed back to Florida, where he became a staff writer for the Florida Keys Weekly Newspapers based in Marathon, Florida.

Here, Matt wrote a weekly scuba diving adventure column, and also helped launch new editions of 'The Weekly' in the communities of Key West and Key Largo.

Matt briefly left the media in 2009 after he was hired to lead scuba dives in the beautiful waters off the coast of Honolulu, Hawaii. That's where he attained the status of PADI 'Master Scuba Diver Trainer,' and learned the art of underwater photography.

He moved back to Minnesota and trained as a broadcast multimedia journalist in 2010, working at several local television stations where he covered outdoor stories and the great lakes shipping industry.

Matt came to Idaho in early 2011, and couldn't be happier to start his newest adventure in a state with beautiful mountains, rivers, and deserts.
