The Barbara Morgan Elementary School is scheduled to open in time for the start of the 2008-2009 school year.

MCCALL -- She’s already been given the key to the city, but now McCall’s most famous school teacher has something else to be proud of.

Today, she toured the district's new 60,000 square foot grade school -- which will be called Barbara Morgan Elementary School.

Morgan was teaching in McCall in 1985 when she was chosen as part of the nation's "Teacher in Space" program.

She finally made that dream come true this August with her historic trip to the International Space Station aboard the shuttle Endeavor.

The school that bears her name is scheduled to be completed in time for school next August.
