BOISE -- A Boise school custodian has been spending his free time working hard and studying to become a U.S. citizen.
The entire school at Whitney Elementary held a surprise celebration to congratulate him on reaching his goal Thursday afternoon.
Students and staff lined the hallway cheering for their nighttime custodian, Abdi Mohamud.
Students made red, white and blue posters and artwork to show how proud they area of their fellow citizen.
Mohamud said he had no idea they were planning this for him and feels very happy to work here.
