MERIDIAN -- The long-awaited Meridian Town Center development is quickly gaining new tenants.

Developers tell KTVB that Marshalls, Gordman's, Petco, Gap Outlet, and Chick-fil-A are among the new retail businesses set to open later this summer near the intersection of Eagle and Fairview Roads.

CenterCal properties announced its intent to develop the $250 million retail space last July. Previous plans had been halted due to the recession in 2007.

The company is based in El Segundo, CA.

On Tuesday, CEO and found Fred Bruning told KTVB that Centercal has already rented over 200,000 square-feet of the project's current retail space to several other new business he can't yet name due to confidentiality agreements.

"What I can tell you is that many are national stores in the fashion, home category, and other tenants that everyone in Idaho will recognize," Bruning said.

Currently, Big Al's sports bar, bowling alley, and arcade is the only business currently under construction in the development. Plans call for the popular chain to open in July or August.

Bruning told KTVB that he expects more than 100 tenants to eventually sign retail lease agreements on the three-phase project, which should be completed by spring of 2014.
