BOISE -- Memorial Day weekend is a time to pause and remember the men and women who have died while serving in our nation's armed forces.
Troops and civilians stood side-by-side at Gowen Field Memorial Park Thursday morning for that purpose.
Donors put down more than a dozen new engraved bricks commemorating the service of all Idahoans.
And organizers also broke ground on their new flag poles.
"I think people should remember what Memorial Day is all about and again, it's about our fallen," said Chief Master Sgt. Pete Glick, Idaho Air National Guard. "We're beneficiaries of those who have gone before us and we're going to carry that history through."
Since the park opened in 2008, organizers have been upgrading the facility and adding more commemorative bricks every year.
