BOISE -- A Meridian man driving a newer-model Jeep swerved and crashed into a vacant home on Wednesday morning near 4th and Myrtle Streets, according to police.

The commotion was part of a two-vehicle crash that also significantly damaged a gold-colored passenger car.

Boise police say the 39-year-old driver of the Jeep was taken to the hospital. They report damage to a nearby street light and sign as well. The driver of the gold passenger car was not injured, according to reports.

Police believe the driver veered off the road, hit the sign and street light, drove along the sidewalk, then turned back onto the road, then veered to the left, striking the gold-colored passenger car before driving into the vacant home.

Firefighters and police directed traffic on Myrtle Street while structural engineers were dispatched to judge if the house was unsafe after the collision.
